Intel at it’s newest Intel event has shown the architecture of it’s new Alder Lake chipset. Intel released their new hybrid chips that have larger high-performance cores paired with smaller high-efficiency cores; this has also been seen with Apple’s new M1 chips. There will be 6 different models of the chip, the Core i5-12600k for $289, i7-1200k for $409, and i9-12900k for $589. The other three models are the KF models meaning they are the same chips without the graphics. In the past few years, Intel has been struggling to beat AMD’s multi-core workloads with their Rocket Lake lineup, Intel claims that Alder Lake’s new i9 beats AMD’s Ryzen 9 5950X with up to 30% better performance in gaming, and twice as better performance in creation workloads. We will not know if Intel’s bold claims are true until November 4th when the chip launches and tech enthusiasts put these chips to the test.

Intel’s New Chip Socket

Intel’s new redesign of the chip’s architecture has led to the chip needing a new socket on the motherboard. With the Core i9-12900k having 8 high-performance cores and 8 high-efficiency cores, this makes the chip longer than its predecessors. Intel’s new chips will have a socket of LGA1700. The LGA1700 socket is replacing the LGA1200 and it has 1700 protruding pins for the new chips.

Next Generation Gaming

With the reveal of the new DDR5 RAM and the next generation of PCIe Gen 5, Itel has made sure to make their Alder Lake chips support both DDR4 and DDR5 RAM sets. Alder Lake also supports x16 PCIe Gen 5 and x4 PCIe Gen 4. The new chips also are more efficient than their predecessors, this means that the mobile chips are going to be a lot more efficient in laptops while not sacrificing performance.

Intel has revealed a game-changing chip showing off their new hybrid Architecture with Alder Lake. The new chip architecture has brought Intel closer to AMD with multi-core performance and power efficiency. With this new chip, Intel has the chance to make a gap between them and AMD with power and efficiency and to compete against Apple’s new M1 Pro and Max chips efficiency to performance. These chips will hit the market on November 4th, with all six models. You can also preorder the chips now on NewEgg.
