Pre-Season Track Update

Sierra Pirkey, Staff Writer

Birds chirping outside means one thing for athletes at Berthoud High School: Spring Track season. The weather is finally warming up, and so are the track athletes. Last week the team held their first official practice of the season. Even with the snow on the track, athletes still came out to compete. This season 69 athletes will be going out for the team. Each athlete will compete in different events, ranging from pole vaulting to the 4X400 meter relay. Senior Olivia Kruger says “ We have a good amount of people on our team and the culture is really good. Each athlete is working to help reach our goal of having a state championship team.”  When asked about being on the 4X800 meter relay team that took home a state title, Kruger said “ I am super proud that I was able to represent our school last year and I hope that we will be able to do that again this season.” The track and field team has high hopes for this season, and there is no doubt that the team will have great success. We wish all the athletes the best of luck this season, and can’t wait to support them at their first track meet.
