Why LeBron passing the scoring record solidifies him as the G.O.A.T

LeBron James versus Michael Jordan has been a debate for years now by basketball fans all over the world. A lot of fans say Jordan is better but in my opinion LeBron has passed him for the title of the greatest of all time.

LeBron has won four NBA championships, four MVPs, four finals MVPs, three all star MPVs and he has two Olympic gold medals. He is also fourth in all-time assists and number one in all time regular season and playoff points passing Kareem on February 7, 2023?. On top of that, he is 9th all-time for threes.

Jordan is a 6-time NBA champion with 6 finals MVPs and 5 league MVPs. He has 14 all-stars, 3 all-star MVPs and 10 NBA all time first teams. On paper, Jordan looks better and I think a lot of people are fooled by that.

LeBron’s best teammate for a lot of his career was Kyrie Irving and the other options were J.R. Smith, Tristan Thompson and Kevin Love. They are decent players but Jordan had two top 50 players on his team and one of the best coaches ever. Lebron had to face a team with three top 100 players of all time and was expected to carry his team to the win during the Cavalier and Warriors rivalry. Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson are one of the most dominant teams of all time and Lebron was expected to beat them in a 7 game series with minimal help.

As of right now LeBron is 38 years old and is still playing like an MVP candidate and is showing no signs of slowing down. He is averaging 29.8 points, 8.4 rebounds and 7 assists in 35 games this season. Jordan was 40 when he retired and he averaged 20 points 6.1 rebounds and 3.8 assists. However he had been retired for a while and he had time to rest and train before coming back, Bron has been playing with no breaks since he was 18. I think the argument could go either way but in the end LeBron passing the scoring record was the extra boost James needed to pass Jordan. These two will always be legends but I think for the length of Brons career and his ability to maintain greatness even in year 20 he is the greatest basketball player of all time.
